Don't like the sound of that, may have to cover that with tank tape as I don't intend refitting it on the race bike as it gets in my way a bit Thanks for the link Keefy |
I removed it on my bike - just pull it off. You might also wanna try moving the tank forward on the hinge - makes a bit more room. |
was doing this last night, but cant seem to get that black rubber stuff off that the pad was struck too ..will try again tonight.. |
Bike was a lot better to race without it, I took a drill and a cone cutter to the locating knob and basically removed it, still have a nice black outline left by the glue, but as its not sticky it didn't cause ma any problems. I took some pics so I'll post them up |

What did you cut the knob off with??what does it do?? sat on it last night, and it does feel so much better with out it.... just need to sort out my seat unit now..what have you got on your?? |
The locating knob is a pressed bit of steel that is spot welded to the tank, I drilled a 3mm hole in the centre of the dome and then enlarged the hole with a couple of cone cutters until all I had left was about a 1mm high wall which I folded over with a hammer to flatten it intowards the centre, could hardly notice any protrusion in the end. Then I stuck a sticker over it although once I remove the black glue residue I will fit a Agip Tank pad I have lying around |
