2002 - 748 electrical fault

Hi all,

I've officially been a Ducati owner for 3 weeks and absolutely love it:roll:

However.........this evening whilst on a blast back from Boxhill it tried to cut out on me? Very breifly then was fine?!!

It seamed to be mainly at high rev's, lights fadded/cut out for a brief second and felt like it missed a stroke.

I haven't had chance to look at anything yet but woundered whether anyone else has come across anything simular?

Not sure if it might be connected but on 2 occaions now I've turnd the ignition key to 'off' but nothings happend (ignition light etc have stayed on), turn the key back to on then off again and all's fine?

Any thoughts of where to start?:)

Thanks

Could be down to a faulty relay, namely the little yellow one down by the battery (thats if they are still yellow on the 2002 models)

At the risk of stating the obvious, I'd try the ignition switch first, and the wiring to it. Follow the leads from the switch and check the condition of the connectors where it joins the rest of the loom. If you can borrow/obtain a spare switch, you could try, er, switching them. They're a bit of a pig to get to, though, if memory serves. It's hard to route the loom "properly" without taking a lot of stuff off (radiator?). Anyway, it's bodgable.

And clean the connections/terminals on the yellow relay skids mentions. It's one of that bunch near the oil filler.

With Skidlids on this one, exact same symptoms as mine had, carry a spare relay with me always.
