Will 996 fairings fit a 998 / 996R?

I realise it may have been asked before, but I can't find it!!!!

Do 996 fairings fit a 998 / 996R properly?

Or do I need to get specific fairings for a 998/996R?

This is assuming that the 998 fairings and 996R fairings are the same.

The v-peice is different I know, but will they fit OK?

Thanks
Tim

if its the coils that the bodywork fouls on can they not be repositioned or replaced with stick coils, the later is what I'll be looking at fitting to the 998 engine in the 748 chassis.

Simon.....

....I'll sort some pics and send them to you.

In reality the tank probably won't be for sale, but the panels will.

they can be adapted to fit, but fitting the proper ones is best and looks a bit better.

I posted about relocating testastreeta coils, and recieved no advice.

I had the idea that the coils could be relocated perhaps tucked into the space in the frame above the engine on little brackets. but as no advice followed shelved the idea.

Having limited finances I adapted my 996 track body work to fit my 996R by cutting off the air scoup and leaving about an inch of fibreglass to the top and bottom of the scoup.

it also needed a bit of mdification around the larger exhausts and sump.

the side stand hole is also differant, but this can be sorted by removal of the cut out switch from the stand.

there are loaction lugs on the 748 frame which you might be able to use, they look the same type as the lugs on my 996r. but i think that the engine might foul on that position.

tim its only the fairing lowers that dont fit, oh and the v piece is differant.

pro twins do complete track day bodywork seat, fairing, v peice and undertray , not sue about mudguard in red for 998etc £500 new.

would be interested to find out if any of you know any better options.

Thanks for the warning Bungi, I was hoping to do a quick engine swap with some help from Dallas and sort out the running gear at a later stage, nut any obstructions may cause some delay. Will certainly be looking in to the stick coils off a jap bike as I now have a couple of different sets and all seem to have suitable resistance values that are close to the original coils and have also compared the values to those used on Italian cars using similar ECUs

Bungi....

.....thanks for the info, I'm checking out a few options at the moment and will let you know...
