Polish Impressions - 3 weeks in... Well, end of week 3 for me now, so I thought it was time I put pen to paper so to speak. First impressions of Poland - it's a lot better than I was expecting. And the nice thing, they seem to like their bikes. OK, must bikes are pretty old and knackered as you would expect, but there are some nice bikes about - coming in from the airport I saw a zx6r in the first village i came to, and then around and about Gliwice where I'm based I've seen a few... the square in the centre of town is undoubtedly the place to go, and one of the bars seem to collect bikes most nights of the week, mainly Harley style machines, but i've seen a fairly new Fireblade this week, a 2004 R1 with the most miniscule license plate ever, virtually unreadable even when standing directly behind it, and my favourite, an old GSXR1100, with what can only be described as a sawn-off can - it looks as if he has literally sawn the end off the can and made it open-ended.. he can be heard halfway across town... Also came across a single Ducati - a dark blue ST2 I believe.. Anyway, all good fun... Cheers Martin |
Interesting, I am planning to ride to Poland soon re-trace my roots so to speak. Last time I was there was 20 years ago hope the roads have improved? |

There's a brand new 6 lane highway running from here to Krakow which is supposed to be pretty good (will find out on Sunday). By contrast, on the North side of town is the older 4 lane road, and the surface on that in some places is terrible.. Bit of a mixture all in all from what I've seen so far.. |
