Club memberships and board members, things are not what they used to be.... Having spent a while reading through previous posts etc from the archives 2003 etc, I am surprised to see the amount of peeps that are no longer club members or board members or both. There appears to one hell of a lots of peeps that do not visit(logged in) or post anymore. Also the amount of board members that are also DSC members seems to have dropped considerbly. I cant help thinking there is an underlying reason for this. Is it that the board and the way that it is used is turning peeps away now, for what ever reasons. Maybe some peeps have moved to other makes of bikes, or just given up on biking. Maybe if there is an underlying problem with the club or board, or both it should be addressed to enhance both etc. the amount of peeps joining the forum is a lot, but it's allways the same old regulars that visit on a regular basis. Just my observation you understand, but any thoughts on this. Just as a starter, the recent post from jewell, it stayed on the board for a fair time. But other less offensive post etc have been removed in mega speed. To be honest that post would have put a lot of peeps off the board and club. I am pretty easy goining , but it was an inappropiate posting, with no real use to anyone, not even himself. Just my view, which I am entitled to. back to you peeps. |
as a club, you reap what you sow .... it's a knock on of lots of warnings, concerns and demands for action being historically ignored and some that continue to be ignored, making the club and the board not what they once were , many of those that made the DSC what it was are still out there, they just aren't in here any longer .. tis a shame .... |
My experience with message boards and forums is that there are always a core of regulars who post regularly, but that this core will gradually change over time. There may be an "inner core" that remains for the long haul, but turnover of contributors is inevitable, in terms of casual posters and "regulars". People find that their interests move on, or that there is no longer anything new or fresh for them on the forum - either they've seen it all before or they have said everything they have to say, time to move on. It's not something peculiar to the DSC Message Board, it happens on all forums - the ones that I've seen, anyway. And all forums have their nuisance posters - to a greater or lesser extent. It's endemic to the Internet. |
With respect why arnt you or Dibble a member then......and make a difference in something that your opinions seems to show you care about? £20odd hardly brakes the bank! |

my reasons are well known to the membership secretary mate, there are certain principles involvd and why spend £20 without conviction ... you'll find I rarely attand anything officially DSC any longer but keep in touch with my friends, very occasionally through the site... so it's not like I'm taking without giving ... Hope that helps .... |

I was a fully paid up member, until recently. But probs dictated otherwise and I let it lapse, that's not a crime, and does not mean I dont support the club when are where possible, membership cost is not an issue. Infact I've pointed a lot of peeps towards joining. I just feel that things have changed in a negative way, just my opinion. |

Now we have DSC,DuN,Ducatisti and even the DOC. IMO there are two main reasons for folks to leave the board. 1)Yep the DSC has had some "issues" lately,..and also a lot of probs with the website. How off putting can it be to be unable to log on for hours,..and then when you do eventually get on,find a load of nastiness and childish rants. Thankfully things in the club and website have calmed down and things are coming back to normal. 2)People buy motorcycles for lots of reasons,..to look cool as a fashion accessory,on a whim, coz it was always summat they wanted to do,because its in their blood,or simply just because MCN told them to!;) Either way, lots of folks come here to gather info and to join in on runs or whatever.Next summer that same person may sell the bike for the next latest, greatest thing.(Usually when the bike needs a 12k service!;) ) Some folks suffer or witness a big crash that puts them off. Either way,as many folks leave the board as join. Personally I also spend some time on the Ducatisti board,(as do a few others here!),thet seem a friendly bunch with not a hint of nastiness,.....just like this board used to be! |
Another day; a different issue. It's what makes some people tick. Ignore 'em. Be happy :-) |
