Mirror fitting

Managed to have the mirror "pop off" today - i turned it downwards to drain water out and it 'pinged' off.
I can only see a single spring inside the leg but seems a bit short to be able to easily hook back onto the black mounting on the fairing. Anyone know how to do this or is there another spring somewhere on my driveway.

Thanks in anticipation

nope just the one :) unbolt the base from the upper fairing, that'll help u get it back on

As stated, unbolt, don't try to pull spring into place as you will always slip, you may want to make a little hooking device to pull the end of the spring into place on the mounting bracket.
If you really have problems I have a tool you could borrow to pull the spring into place.

How do you get the painted bit off the back ?

To my knolewdge you don't, it's all pressed together, when one of mine came off, the red plastic bit cracked and I had to buy a complete mirror with stalk section already attatched.
But when I looked at the old one it looks very difficult to get a blade in between the black and the painted parts to separate them, you will probably cause more damaged to the good bits if you tried.
Maybe someone will come along with an alternative view.

Thanks all - - suprisingly easy in the end and took about 30 secs using piece of string hooked onto end of spring.
