749 Juddering/vibration

Under braking i get a juddering sensation from the front end, dont think its anything to do with the brakes, i suspect its the mirror supports bouncing up and down. Does anyone else suffer from this? Could it need a little suspension setup, it has only done 700 miles! cheers

If you can feel it through the bars it is probably warped disks, or glazed pads-get your dealer (Italia?) to check it. The vibration I suspect is what is causing the mirrors to wobble.

there is a recall on some models for new banjo bolts on the calipers to cure just this problem, not sure if it applies to 749's

Had two 749 and on both bikes I've had the bolts that hold the headlight casing to the head stock come loose. Before I spotted the problem first time I actually lost 2 of the 4 bolts :o

The top fairing, mirror supports, mirrors, clocks, fuse box, headlights etc all mount to the big heavy headlight casing and this is only held to the head stock with 4 off M6 bolts.

If these come loose all the front end body work etc can feel loose.

First thing I do now is fix these bolts in place with a drop of loctite threadlock.

Easy and cheap fix.

Agree with Monty,warped discs.
Marko had the discs on his 749 replaced under warrenty.Nip over to Italia and get them to check it out.

Had its first service yesterday, the mechanic at italia isnt quite sure what it it is, however he thinks it could be the discs, im going to give them a few hundred more miles just to be sure they have fully bedded in, if that fails they will fit a new set of discs. Cheers for the imput guys.

Check to see if the front tyre has gone "out of round"

I also had a problem after 3,000 mile with a judder from 65-59mph when braking, it was suggested that it was the tyre as the discs semmed Ok with very little run out, the tyre did show signds of not running true.
Tyres replaced, still the problem but not as bad. Neil at Cornerspeed checked the discs and the discs were in spec, however following a short run on the bike he agreed it was a problem. DUC say the banjo problems does not apply to the 999/749 but they have agreed to replace both discs and pads.
I will be having these fitted next week and will keep you posted on the results
