Side Stand collapse

I parked my bike in the car park at work in the morning all ok but when I returned a few hours later the lean angle was far greater almost falling over. I had to stop for fuel on the way to Alton cafe quite scary puting on the side stand at that angle. put a pice of wood under the stand while I was at the cafe to stop it falling over, know safe at home on the paddock stand ?
The stand dose not seem to be bent, may be it's worn where it locks out?
will have to take it apart and see.
anyone else had this problem???

it is usually the plate that the stand fixes to that gives way. I have just put a new one on mine as it was getting a fairly significant lean angle.

About 50-60 quid if i remember correctly, but worth it if it saves the bike

mine did that, turned out to one of the bolts holding it on had snapped, couple of quid to fix.

Yep check the bolts for tightness...and even check to see that they haven't fallen out, one of mine did.

My sons monsters lean angle is scary - but found one of the bolts is bent so will have to order another.

We have to stand it on one inch plate at the minute and it's still scary

After checking your bolts, & if they are not at fault, take off the side stand & bracket, take your bracket along with your side stand to a local fabricator & explain the problem & show him the two offending items, you will see that where the side stand butts up to the mounting bracket, the soft aluminium of the side stand will be worn away a little, to rectify this add weld to the part the side stand buts up to & re shape till you get the desired lean angle. cost probably a tenner, darn site cheaper than a new side stand.

Just had a closer look and there is a bolt missing I don't know at this stage if its just fallen out or its snaped off will have a good look tomorow.
