Peter Brock Killed in Accident Maybe not a name that means much to many people in the UK, but in Australia Peter Brock was a Touring Car legend. He won the famous Bathurst 1000 race 10 times. For motorsport in Australia he's right up there with the greats. He never featured on the world stage like Doohan, Gardner or Brabham, but is probably better known locally than all of them. Peter died today in a racing accident. His car slid off the road and crashed into a tree. I actually feel more for this tragedy than Steve Irwin's death earlier in the week. http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...222310976.html http://www.smh.com.au/news/motorspor...222313354.html |

Dude, he never managed Bathurst the 10th time, I remember when he retired from Bathurst the first time and I was gutted that 'Peter Perfect' never got his 10th win. If I was an Australian icon I'd be in hiding right now! Luckily I'm nobody ;) RIP Peter |

Just what I was thinking! RIP Racin Dood ! |

That depends on whether you count his 2003 Bathurst 24 Hour win. If you do, then that's 10. 1972, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 2003 |

How can you count that! It wasn't a proper Bathurst! |
Quote:
Well, if we're talking "proper" Bathursts then you'd have to discount all the races between 1985 and 1992 that were run under Group A rules. Remember the Ford Sierras and Nissan Skyline GTRs? |

Yes but there was still only one race then! And I liked Godzilla :D |
I've watched bathurst & similar races, over the years,i remember the RS500'S,& laterly the holdens etc, even for an old fella,he was certainley a bit of a do'er !!!,but like steve irwin,he died, doing what he did best ! rip ! |
Damn, even though I am a FORD man I liked Peter Brock and always remember his races with Dick Johnson , I cant believe that he has gone. Well as it was said above at least if you have to go then go doing something that you love to do and not sitting doing nothing.Sad, sad |
****** ! I can remember watching him at6 Bathhurst (on TV) when I was a kid, back in the days of the Sierra's and Skylines. Been hooked on Aussie Touring cars/ V8 ever since ! RIP mate |
