What should charging current be? Think the beast has fired another battery! Ran Mallory (wot a sh*t 'ole) today and battery was fit for nowt even though it's been on charge all weekend (Optimate type). On circuit the dash was telling me the battery voltage was 17 - 18 volts. That's obviously the charging voltage and it seems more than a little too high to me. Looks like the voltage regulator has gone! Will this f*****g thing ever run without giving me problems? Maybe I should just by a bloody Suzuki and save myself all this grief and expense? |
nothing wrog with Mallory, its just a tad rustic .... as for the bike, well its a "bitsa" .. should have just stuck with the 996S ...... |
What an arse Jon, 17-18v seems a bit high, either the battery is knackered and is running almost open circuit (no internal resistance for the boffs) or its getting overcharged. Try the battery off your other bike and see what the voltage is then (if that battery is ok). If the voltage is lower, your main battery is fooked, if the voltage is the same, your reg is fooked. Yep , sounds like a failing Rec/reg, that or the connector block is all mullucked . 4D |
I am guessing that you are running a pattern Regulator. Some of them do overcharge. I run a pattern one and mine is on the high side. Assuming it is a road going machine, always run with the lights on and top the Battery up when needed. Or go back to Ducati original. |
