Engine Tuning - What works
 

I am considering giving my 996 ST4s engine a gentle tweaking. It will be managed by a IAW1.6m ecu so fueling mods are no problem and about the only thing I am sure of is that it'll run into 45mm headers which will taper into open 50mm cans.

What else works? 12:1 comp, cam timing tweaks on strada cams via adjustable gears? It's easy to spend big bucks and get a peaky engine that breaths oil like a b****r, so I'd really appreaciate the views, experiences of anyone who has been there.

The bike'll get normal road/odd track day abuse so I'm not looking for race spec horsepower or rev ceilings.

P.S. Who has done their own engine rebuilds?
