996 Headlights Pants aren't they? Does anyone have any advice on how to improve them? |
Try switching them on..:frog: |
I don`t use mine, never drive at night, I`m so fast I always get home b4 its dark. |
I think it was Shazaam who put up a thread about a metal-halide (or something similar?) "projector" conversion? I changed the bulbs in my 998 for the Philips 30/50% brighter bulbs (You cant get the 50% option in one of the sizes) and it made a difference, but they're still not "brilliant". |
Did Pro-Twins do a conversion were both lights were on. Do a search i found a thread ounce were a member had done something similar. Think it was called an Australian conversion or something like that. hth. |
I've got the 20% brighter or whatever they are in my dip beam, the main beam's OK really. I keep hearing people say they're poor, and of couse they're not going to be as good as the latest R1 or whatever, but it's a 12-year-old design: I expect folk thought they were brilliant when they first came out. I've still got this Honda Hornet loan bike: I've heard the lights praised on that, but I don't prefer it to my 748: the dip beams a bit better, but main beam adds next to nothing to the party! If you still want more, the "Australian" conversion is the way to go. |

Be carefull with putting both lights on at once on an early bike, because the alternator is only 350w, and it is not man enough to keep the battery charged on a long run. Later bikes have both lights on at once, and also have a 500w alternator. You can tell the differnce I believe by the later alternator having three wires. |
