people-mover bike transport??

Ok, we are contemplating the idea of getting a slightly older people-mover. To be used as a workhorse/van.
However anybody have any recomendations as to which one's you can fit a 996 into the back of. Any body have any experiance of these things.

Renault Espace or one of the Galaxy/Sharan family usually turn up a fair bit at track days or race meets with a 99* on board Roy.

Any particular incarnation of Espace?

yeah, mine! a 1994 model.
Need to take the screen off, but w/o screen it goes in easy. Bullet proof cars as well so a great workhorse.
Selling mine soon... ;)

I've been throwing the 996 into my Kia Sedona for three years now. If required, it will take the bike AND 4 passengers, or the bike, two pax, spare wheels, tool boxes, generator, stands etc etc. And with the original screen on the 996 you didn't need to take the screen off.

I've just chopped mine in for the new model Sedona, so there are plenty of older model jobs around for very little money. Find the right one and I reckon you could pick up a three year old turbo diesel for circa £7 - 8k

I had use of a Ford Galaxy for a few years. My 748's went happily in the back of that. I just had to remove the plexiglass windscreen and the bike went in fine. Front wheel wedged between the armrests of the two front seats and it stayed upright on it's own. Used ratches only to stop it 'backing out' of it's wedged position when I pulled away.

More mod cons than most vans and a better power/speed capability too.

Thinking on... I do have a higher screen on the 996, maybe a standard screen wouldn't need taking off, i've never tried it.

Recently bought a van because I thought it would be the best option. So far i'm thinking it's pretty even - the van can fit 2 bikes +kit, and there's plenty of height; the espace only fits one bike with a minor height problem but there's still room for all the kit.
The van ain't very quick! It maintains motorway speed ok but struggles up hills when loaded, it's also noisey and visibility is very poor. The espace is a 2ltr petrol so when the right foot goes to the floor the car actually does something! It's quiet to drive, superb visibility all round and a little more comfortable. Van has 3 seats, always, whereas the car has the luxury of 7 seats.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other!
