Marchesini mag wheels

Bought a pair of wheels on ebay. Have found out that the rear is in fact a race wheel, though not listed as such (wxxxkxx). So I now have a usable front that cost a little more than it should.

Question is, is there any way to get the rear on without using a racing hub. Because it is a racing wheel, the hole to let the hub through is larger in diameter than the regular wheel. Are the studs also spaced further out. What does it take to put a racing rear hub on (larger swing arm?) and what sort of money would I be looking at to obtain one.

You'd need the race hub and axle assembly off an RS or such like. Pretty rare to come across and very expensive unfortunately.
Check the front to as the race wheels are different to road items. Axles, disc offset etc.

I have a rear that I might swap for some 3 spokes ;)

Apparently you can fit a big axle rear wheel onto a normal axle. Spoken to somebody recently who does a kit to do just that, problem is I can't remember exactly who it was. Thinking about it, it might have been WL Racing based at Oulton Park, might be worth giving them a call on 01829 760996.

Cheers, Neil.

I might be wrong but I think some off the later single swingarms (not 748/916/996/998) Ducatis had the larger Corse type axle fitted, try and source one from a breakers.

Hmmmm - i got lumbered with a set of these once, if i remember correctly, the rear also does not have the dished (concave) centre to accept the normal wheel nut. So there are also width issues, but assume this is sorted with the correct axle.

Stick it back on ebay as a "Ducati race rear wheel, limited edition, collectors special, once ****sed on by Carl Fogarty" - or similar ;)
