Suspected cracks in swing arm.
 

Whilst in the process of changing the rear tyre and chain & sprockets, I have noticed under the chain guide towards the front of the arm what looks like heavy scratches or possible cracks. I seem to remember either reading about faulty swing arms or being told about this a while back but can't remember which bike or from which year was affected.
My bike is a '93 750SS and to put my mind at rest would very much appreciate any info or pictures showing faulty arms.
I may well be concerned about nothing but would very much appreciate any help.

Can you post up a picture of yours? It may just be rub marks from the chain, but a picture would help!

As requested, my wife has managed to take a picture. Any ideas?

To date, unfortunately nobody has been able to tell me where the swinging arms are known to crack.

Look like scratches to me, from what I can see in the pic I wouldn't be too bothered.

Have to agree that they look like surface scratches to me as well.
They look like they're uneven so not due to chain wear otherwise they would be regular and along the line of the chain run.
Could have been cause by something getting picked up in the chain like a stone or bolt or some other road debris, or even through bad maintenance with a slip of a screwdriver or something!
Nothing to worry about from the looks of it.

Certainly look like just scratches. They used to crack when the pinch bolts were over tightened.

Yep just scratches is my opinion also, only seen cracks around pinch bolt area and shock mount
