I've seen a roed bike for sale with 900ss wheels on... are they wider?

would i have to change back to standard to compete in DD?

phil_h 16-Oct-2006 20:25

Fronts are the same, 900 rear is wider, and yes, it will have to be the 'narrow' one to race.

thanks for that phil... i've noticed most have spokes that widen towards the rim but there are some that narrow like more modern wheels...

are they simply off a later model?

Zimbo16 16-Oct-2006 21:23

Older bikes have spokes that are narrower at the hub and wider at the rim, later bikes have wheel spokes that get narrower towards the rim. Not sure exactly when they changed though, I suspect about '97 but I may be wrong.

Regarding the 900 wheels, that bike may have a 900 swinging arm in as well to take the wider wheel.
