Gibernau, make room for Casey Looks as if the ink is almost dry on the signing of Casey Stoner to the factory Ducati Moto GP team, alongside existing rider Capirossi. Wonder how he will fair next year? I always thought they were out to poach Melandri for an all Italian team. Maybe young blood is where it's at and if I was to think about the least likely employee to join the squad, it would have to be the often ill tempered Roman Max Biaggi himself. Should make for good viewing. Then we have 2008 to look forward to as well, what with the 1200R making it's debut in WSB. Just a nuisance terrestrial TV dropped the coverage of it, as I don't have Eurosport. |
Not certain if this is good or bad. I rate Stoner as a good rider and very determined, but he just seems to push too far all the time and surely on a Ducati it's gonna be even more of a challenge. On a plus side it gets rid of that spanish arse so it's got to be good :) |
Don't forget Lily that it's back to square one for all teams next year with the 800's-except that Ilmore have a head start since they have already scored a point with theirs. I think next year will be very interesting for all sorts of reasons-and I have been told that the 800 'sedici is a missile-time will tell. John |
I thought Stoner was staying put? |
Casey doesn't have a lot of experience, and perhaps he's overly exuberant sometimes ... but he's bloody fast! I think he's an excellent long term signing for Ducati, if it happens. I for one will be a very happy camper! Even Rossi crashed a lot in his first season. Casey has shown true pace this year and with a little maturity and the right guidance he will be a race winner and title contender for sure. I just hope he's not doing the wrong thing from his perspective, I'm not sure that signing for a Bridgestone team is such a smart move for him right now. Assuming he has other options, if not, then Ducati is obviously the best thing going! |
When the 800`s are as quick as the 990`s they`ll reduce the capacity again. Personally I cant waite untill the size is reduced to 500cc and we see hyper high reving 4 stroke multi`s again. Lets introduce 4 strokes into the 250 class, we could also introduce a 350 cc class as well. The thought of a nice little 6 cylinder 250 six sounds appealing, you could also bore the 250 to, say, 297 and race it in the 350 class!!!!!!! Lets slacken the rules a bit and let manufacturers have as many cylinders as they want! |
