SS Mirror Glass Can you get replacement mirror glass or do you have to replace the whole assembly? Bike is an 1994 600SS and the mirror glasses are scratched. I notice that the replacement mirrors SS owners use that Halfords sell are a slightly different size (damn). |
Yes, you can - not seen any for a while but they do pop up on FleaBay every now and then. Frank |
Any ideas if the dealers sell them? |
Why not just use the replacement mirrors from Halfords? |
That's what I have fitted currently, but they are very poorly made and no matter how tight I tighten the screw, they gradually drop down and give me a great view of the side of my fairing! They also vibrate a lot more than the originals and I nearly ran into the back of a car whilst trying to make sense of the blurred image recently: (hmm...is that a police car behind me? I can't quite make it out......OHMYGODIMNOTGOINGTOSTOPINTIME). All in all, I'd like to put the originals back on. |
I had similar troubles with my halfords replacements but thought it was just bad luck of the draw. In the end I managed to use some washers to get the screw tightening properly. However replacement ducati mirrors are extortionate so I'm not sure what to suggest for you now. |

im sure i got some mirrors lying around you can have...!!...if interested let me know and i will dig about in the garage..... cheers phil |
My original mirrors are in superb nick, I spent ages cleaning, filling and re-painting them. They look great. It was only when I removed the masking tape from the mirror glass that I realised that the glass now let's the rest of the mirrors down! That's why I'm after just the glass. BTW, I found some original SS mirrors on Fleabay for £100!!!!! [laughs till he falls of his chair] |
£100? thats cheap. £70 each new. |
