Well as I said I had to pop out and do some stuff to the Surrey boys and this is where my head was when I was out (some may say to lunch).

There I was in the car listening to Stadium Arcadium, Chilli Peppers if unaware.
Got me thinking what an amazing album for me it really is and for several reasons.
Got all there records but do not class myself as a hardcore fan, but like their music, my kids also love it and sing along to their favourite tracks, which is really quite sweet! The more I listen to it the more I realise how fantastically textured it is, the way you have those driving bass lines flow and the often delicate guitar solos drifting in and out of the music, quite astounding really!

There was Oliver and I, driving back from Mugello, stops in a service place in Italy, has a bite to eat, buy some fantastic cookies and this Album, driving home, cookies awesome wished I'd bought more! Album ok, but growing, what an amazing holiday and what a time we had at the GP!

So now the record has now not only gained the emotional significance of our holiday it has also become a fantastically enjoyable album, whenever I listen to it all the memories mingle, in a nice kind of a way.

Then I go back and remember the other albums, not quite as good as this and the shows I've seen, so when will this music pass into just being another one of those albums, awesome in it's day but no relavance to the new time frame it sits in.

And the point of my boring ramble; is; well; what music do I still drag around with me as emotional baggage I cannot really live without, even if I've not heard it for a while, could I still spend the rest of my days without hearing it just one more time?

I end up with 1 album and one single; never mind the bollox (had to incorrectly spell as it threatens to de-stablise the country) here's the sex pistols and teenge kicks by the undertones.

Whilst this is obviously late 70's noise I'm not stuck in a time warp, this morning I was listening to Son House (old style blues, him, his voice and a guitar, magical)

Teenage kicks because I'm alway 15/16 again when I hear it, remembering all those childhood memories.

The Sex Pistols because it is such an intense mixture of energy, anger, the desire shock and not to conform, I could go on about how fantastic this record is, and how on a daily basis one of it's themes is still relevant, but I won't because you lot will think it's cr@p and not get the point of it anyway.

So what music do you feel you still need as much now as the day you first heard it?

For those who just don't get this thread, I just feel somedays I have to put up with the cr@p some of the members bring to the board, so here's mine, enjoy!

I've loads of favourites for various different reasons. But the one that sticks out over and above the rest is Turn the Page by Bob Seager. Its a real biking; hippy record. Really raw emotion but happy at the same time. Dave always said that he'd like it played at his funeral. And we did. It was perfect. I drag the cd out every few weeks, crank up the volume and scare the f*ck out of my cats.

:o Buffoons! thats a bit mild! Mind you I gave Jeff a few strange looks about his choice of music last week when he came for curry!

Guess what, the first time I heard that song was a few years ago done as a cover version by Metallica, really quite a heavy one at that, it's such an awesome song, I'm there listening to it thinking, nah, they must have written this, it seems so personal it's the kind of thing the singer (James) would have been through.
You would probably not like the cover and I may not like the original, but it's amazing how music carries so much of your lives in just a few minutes and then can be brought back when we need it. :) :)

Thanks for adding something to this post, as for those 2; I expected more from them, to be the first ones to get the boot in, it saddens me, you try to bring peace and love to a war zone, something personal to the board, I'm off to the MT now to report them! :lol: :lol:

Music! yes i've heard of it. Nothing wrong with a bit of prog-rock.:o also i do live with the Disco encyclopedia that is my lovely wiife.:D

There was a slight element of getting something off my chest (and we are not talking a Cleveland Steamer here either!) and being pleased with myself that I'd had a nice drive and thought about my music for a bit and what it means. :)

I've seen Baboons in the wild and you look nothing like one, well not the baboon from the front anyway. :eek: :eek:

You keep my girlfriend out of this!
