I've had a change of pace......

I went and slowed down to 4mph for a week. A narrowboat cruise on Grand Union Canal certainly forced me to chill out for a bit. Very quiet, weather was ok (ie didn't get wet!!), ate too much and drank too much....

Problem has been coming back to reality - nearly nicked the boat and disappeared!!

Before that, I went to Prague for a few days - highly recommended destination. It is absolutely beautiful. Not too many bikes but we did spot an ST4....

Years ago I spent ten days on a narrow boat, cruising the four-counties ring (Staffs, Shrops, Cheshire and Worcs). Magnificent fun and a complete change of pace. Must do that again one day.
I understand the desire to take the boat and just disappear. What a life that would be!

I know the feeling, we used to live on one a long time ago, but recently have been thinking it may be time to move back onto one. It is a great life, used to keep a DT175 on the aft deck. As I am a naval architect I have even started to make a few sketches which included a hyrdaulic davit and space inside for a few bikes inside.

Nice and chilled Karen.

When I came back from Egypt I very nearly sold up and disappeared to Thailand!

It's still in the back of my mind ...

Nice pic of Foxton Locks. Its close to where I live. I often stop there for a drink after a ride out. Some stunning roads from there up to Upingham and beyond.

I went on one of those things once. The thing is, you don't see another car or anything else that goes much above 4mph for days on end. When you get back into the real world everything looks as if you've got the DVD on fast forward...You see a car coming towards you and think "Jeez, look at this maniac" and it's a white haired old granny doing about 25mph.

When you've been used to just ambling along for a few weeks, you get back on your bike and it feels like a rocket ship at first.

Doesn't take long to re-calibrate though
