916SP - Which EPROM should I have Hi guys, I have a '96 916SP (SP3) with termigs and the EPROM is 916SP -056-. Is this the right one? The Haynes book implies it should be -057-. Also (the reason I found this out) I was putting my std cans on for a track day and wanted to change the Chip that I have but it says 916SP -056- on it. Is this the std Cans chip or is it just the same as the other one? I know its a long shot but I thought maybe one of you guys may have ad experinece of this. Thanks in advance. :sing: |
I've just done a quick web search... The FIM website is a bit confusing as for the 916SP (94-97) it has a "standard chip" of 056/057 This article says: "The data is actually for the genuine factory 916SP chip which comes with the bike to be fitted with the SP's large diameter Termignoni mufflers. In Ducati parlance it's an 056 chip. " http://www.epicycle.com.au/streetbi.htm Another interesting article on the 916SP is here, where he raves about the standard fuel chip in it! http://www.moto-one.com.au/performance/916bigbore.html (in fact, the Moto One website has some impressive articles on Ducati tuning: http://www.moto-one.com.au/performance/index.html ) Sorry I can't be of more help, but you may want to try emailing Ducati direct and asking them - they're normally pretty helpful with this kind of thing: http://www.ducati.com/contact_us.jht...ctus=technical |
Ian Falloon's latest book lists as follows: 916sp 1994-96 std ex 057 916sp 1994-96 45 man/50 sil 056 916sp 1994-96 racing 50 man/50 sil 058 there is loads of other chip data on the std 1994 Bip and the post 95-98 916 too Rgds, Rob |
You can't do better than installing an FIM piggy-back EPROM in your 916. We've had quite a few customers with them, and the difference is amazing. Lee. http://www.monstershop-ducati.co.uk |
Cheers guys all that info is spot on. And cheers Antonye, that is a lot of help. What both you and Rob say makes sense actually, cos the bike runs ok with Termigs and the 056 chip, but if I put the standard cans on with the 056 it seems to get a bit duff in the lower rev range. It would appear that I have been sold two 056 chips. When really I need the 057 chip for the stanard cans. Anyone know where I can get hold of a 057 chip? I am going to read the articles you listed now Antonye. Big TA to all. [Edited on 10-10-2003 by homera1] |
