Wheels...how many Kgs

Looking on e bay and saw some 3 spoke wheels listed. The seller said that they were 1kg less than the 'standard 3 spoke' he was selling them as racing wheels with the 'DUCATI RACING' text on them. I have not come accross this before and find it hard to believe. Any thoughts as I have a spare set of these I was thinking of selling to buy some 5 spokes. But at 1kg lighter:confused:   is there any point.

i could be wrong but i think the earlier wheels were the same weight , the ducati racing text was on the earlier rear 3 spoke rim around the centre, ive seen a few ads on ebay with peeps thinking they ahve some special race rims but they are just std road alloys.

even if they were a 1 kg lighter its still nowhere near as light as mags

Theres's been some info on here about wheel weights, probably posted by shazaam,

yer tyres can make a big difference as well as some makes weigh a lot more than others, that info was probably in one of Shazaams posts as well!!

It was Shazam who replied with the original info.

Here it is again:

Front Rear
11.5 13 Brembo 3 spoke ally
6.8 8.7 Old trick 5 March Mags
9.25 12 OEM March 5 spoke Ally
6.04 7.76 New 10 spoke March Mag

I think the other post that Shazaam! put up was to do with 1kg saved on unsprung weight and rotating mass is equivalent to saving about 5kg elsewhere on the bike.

All very technical, but it was explained thoroughly
