Any had a Fuel leak from the front bracket?!

recently noticed i have a slight fuel leak at the front of the tank. Its knackered the airbox seal fixing point and so i no longer have a good seal.. As i took the tank off the bike i noticed a fair deposit of fuel on the front bracket that pushes through the airbox to the head stock. To check that it was coming from there i placed duck tape at the bottom of the tank around the area where all the pipes are and then some further up right by the bracket. And left it level over night.

Anyone had this problem before?

looks like i need to use some jd weld when i take the bracket off...bum

thanks

Hi, is J.D.Weld petrol proof?

I had a tank that had a small fracture develop just above where the front bolt thing fixes. Still got to get it fixed at some point.

found the fault..

very strange. Took the front bolt out which holds the bracket on the tank and it slowly dripped petrol out of the hole. Place some gasket sealant around the bolt and screwed it back in....2 days gone and so far so good.

Not 100% sure of the JD weld regarding holding back the petrol, but as it can take a hell of a lot of heat and lbs per square inch, figured it shouldn’t be too porous and so shouldn’t leak.

if the gasket sealant holds then ill keep with that, as JD weld is very permanent in this situation once its use.

cheers
