impossible u-turn !! Does anyone else have problems u-turning an old-style ( i.e. 1997) 750ss ? Mine just tips over past a certain point on the steering !! Best I can get is 4 squares on the car park ! All suggestions welcome :( |
Yeap, thats about it. You should try and turn a 999 thats hed the steering head angle reduced by only 1 degree, I could'nt belive it you'd need a road the width of the M25 to turn it round in one go. Murray Mint |
Dear Mr. Mint, I love to send your avitar / gif to one of my mates - any idea how I can do it please? Regards - Frank |

Hi Fi Try droping your forks through the yokes untill there is about 3 or 4 mm showing then drop your clipons as low as they will go and set them back just enough to miss your tank on full lock but before you set them back ajust the steering lock stopers so that you get more lock but check nothing is being fouled this may alter the handleing but not by much. If you dont like it you can always change it back. Stu.:):):sing: |
There\'s a knack to doing u-turns anyway! Get yourself along to your local IAM group and ask for a demo. It's not just about leaning/turning the bars, you gotta set the right gas, control it with the clutch & back brake (yes you CAN do it on a Duke!) and sit as UPRIGHT as you can whilst trying to lean the bike as far into the turn as you can. It's very important to LOOK where you want to go and much easier to see it being done than to try and understand my scribblings. I got my "figure eights" down to three car parking slots (tighter than some of the guys on their beemers) on the 750SSie and the 998 is even easier! Getting the hang of this type of slow speed manoeuvring gives you fantastic handling control in heavy traffic. ;) :borg: |
U turn? On a duke? Your havin a larff!:P My philosophy of 6months riding experience is "get off and push! or get someone to do it for you!!!!!":P |
hold the front brake good and tight ,get some revs going dump the clutch pull the right clip on a bit at a time a around she goes. wheres that new set of tires |
