Its easy to reset and I have done this when the click wheel started to play up.

Plug the ipod into a power supply and connect to a wall socket. Not the computer. Turn the hold switch to on and back to off. Press and hold down the play and menu buttons together until the apple logo comes up. This should reset without losing your music.

Why can't you connect to your PC? Can you not connect to itunes?

My iPod Nano was defunct when I bought it 2 months ago . . .

Since then Apple have released some new software for it which makes it work properly now - no probs.

Plus Apple service is excellent.

The only other problem I have had with it was that the headphone socket came loose - I now have a brand new iPod c/o Apple!

Try iTunes and then download the latest firmware for your iPod - reset it - connect it and wipe it clean installig the new software - other than that call Apple Direct - 0870 876 0753 - they will sort you out.

if it won't connect them something isn't right for one matey, does your ipod appear in device manager when you connect it to your PC?You could try downloading the latest Apple (iPod) updater from Apple this may or may not help but not until you can connect anyway.

There is a complete reset configuration wich I've used before but it does delete everything. Let me know and I'll try and remember it....

Could also try deleting profiles and reregistering but not sure this will do the trick.

Its either the drive cable has got dislodged (quite common) or that the disk itself has failed.

Nothing to lose now except to open it up and try reseating the drive connections: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/

If that doesn't work then its new disk time - a good chance to pay a bit extra and put a larger drive in there while you're at it. Avoid ebay though - buy from a reputable dealer who has a no quibble guarantee / returns policy.
