Fixing Carbon Hello I have managed to burn a hole through my rear hugger:( ask a stupid question is there a fix? other than buy another off fleebay regards TopiToo |
I understand that QB carbon are the experts, although i've never used them personally. http://www.qbcarbon.com/ |
I did the same thing ages ago, I used this stuff called I think LIQUID METAL, its like a putty that you squeeze til it gets soft and warm them apply it in the hoe and it becomes HARD, I mean really hard, then I painted it, depending onthe size of the hole you cant see the difference. I had mine on my bike for 2 years before I sold th bike. |
Don`t be a miser, just put a new on. |

Hello Rick Nelly was raving about this liquid metal, might have to look into it. thankyou. Hello rcgbob44 "Don`t be a miser, just put a new on." well it is nearly Christmas, lets see what Santa brings:) TopiToo |
It can be repaired using wet-layup or prepreg carbon cloth. It may not match exactly however it will fill the 'ole - It depends how cosmetic you want the repair. RX |
Topi I`ve used liquid metal before and its very good indeed, in fact when its hard you can drill & tap it just like the real thing but I would not have thought it would be suitable for fixing a flexible surface such as you want to. The wet lay or even fibre glass would be a better bet. |
Same happened to my hugger on my old 748, I used carbon fibre sheets and fibreglass resin. Came out pretty good, you could hardly see the repair. |
1 Attachment(s) Speak to Ian at QB,he charged me £25 to repair a great crack in mine. Was a superb repair.Ask Phil H,he bought it. |
