Changing Brake pads! (newb Question) Im not the most mechanically minded person but i'll give it a go and i need to change the rear brake pads on my 749. I did the Monster succesfully but this one has me stumped a little. I have removed the c clip from behind, bent up the wire fastener bit,but now can't get the rod out. Is it just a case of pulling really hard? Thanks a lot. |
The pin should slide out, might need a bit of a tug. when replacing your pads you will have to settle the piston(s) back into the caliper to compensate for the extra friction material on the new pads. They might slide back in by hand if not a piece of hard wood and a small G clamp will set them back in, you will have to remove the caliper from mountings to do this. Remember to put a little copper grease on the location holes in the pads as well as the pin and the back of the pads! Hope this helps Danny |
Thanks Danny. Helped a lot. Did it by hand, and then went in with a bit of a push. Got a bit of a fright when the old pads dropped down after removing the pin,and realising the caliper had to come off! Almost undid the wrong bolt and took the thing apart. All done now anyway. Thanks mate. |
