Machining Barrels

I am planning to set the squish and dial the valves for next season. Anyone know what would be a reasonable price to pay for the bottoms of the barrels machining. Can anyone recommend somewhere to do the work ,preferably local to the Southampton area, but I suppose I could post if there is nowhere local.

You can't modify the barrels under the rules - so machining is a big no no.

Using a thinner or no base gasket is what Motorapido did on my 675 & 583 and will be doing on my 620.

Best bit of work you could spend time on IMHO. I can machine barrels in my workshop, I'm looking at doing some for a conversion kit (NOT DD related).

As they are all different sizes when they leave the factory who is to say if they have been machined. And setting the squish is not against the rules and it may involve machining a small amount off the base. Afterall it's only setting the engine up as it should have been done in the factory.

They're not that far out. Using different base gaskets is all that's needed. As Tim said, it's a no no under the rules.

The rools are the rools mike, 'manufacturing tollerances' aint an excuse! :o
Just use thinner gaskets... same effect.
