Enduro Africa Madness

Nico was this doctor that rode with the blue group with an injured foot for a week, towards the end of the ride he rode his bike into a swimming pool, after draining the exhaust of water and a bit of messing about the bike fired up and away it went. :) :)

Just to flesh out the story a bit more:

We had and UK based paramedic/doctor who organised all the medical side of it, Kip put in place 3 doctors on bikes who rode with a team split between the 7 groups of riders, at the back were 2 ambulances.

After a few days we lost our sweep/doctor so there were now only 2 riding with us all, some places the ambilances would get to late or could not get there at all due to terrain, so when Nico had a fall and hurt his foot, if we lost him we'd be down to only 1 doctor on the days ride.

He toughed it out and kept riding for about a week with a bad foot, you could see the pain and discomfort on his face, but he did not let us down.

The blue group were so impressed with him they bought him a new pair of Alpinestar boots, as a reward one of the Yamaha South African mechanics let him ride one of their bikes into the pool.
If you have seen the photos put up by cassproductions, there was a guy (Chris) with a serious beaten up leg after a major fall, it was Nico that helped him get through some of the last 2 days of the Rally as his leg was seriously painful.

We were all pleased for Nico and him letting off steam towards the end of the Rally, was also a release of tension for us too.

Yes, stood it up vertical and drained the water out the exhaust, took the plug out and turned it over a few times, stuck the plug back in and fired it up.

Away it went with no problems, these AG 200's were indestructible.

The mechanics said they drained the oil twice the next day with no ill effects of it swimming, it saved them a job cleaning it, shame about the dirty pool though.
