Small digital Camera : Which one to buy ??? Am hoping for some help in choosing a small digital camera. I want, in this order ! : 1, it to be small enough to carry in my pocket for biking, skiing etc 2, fast startup and pic taking so as not to miss the action 3, decent Optical zoom, not digital 4, good screen for viewing pics in the pub 5, good looks, for the camera i already look great  ! What would you all recommend ??? Thanks in advance Steve |
Steve, As well as my Pro Digital SLR I have one of the small Sony DSC T1's. They've now been updated but fit the bill for most of your above 'wish-list' Have a 'huge' 3" LCD monitor on the back and are ultra slim in design for putting in your pockets etc. Carl Zeiss optics are another plus point (3x Optical zoom) They're upto 10.1 megapixels now. Have a look here... As I say...It's the DSC T range you need. They're the slimmer ones. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProdu...+Still+Cameras Regards, Guy |
Thanks Guy ..... was hoping you would reply ! One question, does it take pics quickly, both from startup and one after the other ?? Steve |
To answer your shutter speed question, pick your camera then check it against this shutter speed site. http://www.cameras.co.uk/html/shutte...omparisons.cfm This is the camera that i have coming my way at the moment, it has a single shutter time lag of 0.29 seconds, also it has a 4 x optical zoom http://redirection.alatest.com/apps/...-+IXUS+800+IS/ These are the 2 sites i would look at, both do refurbished Canon camera`s with full warranty, rufurbished generaly means that it was on display at Comet/Currys etc. http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/Emil...554413QQsofpZ0 http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Outle...QQftidZ2QQtZkm The Sony DSC T camera`s have a fst shutter speed as Guy mentioned, if you click on the camera part of the Shutter speed link you just click on the model you want to look at & it will give you a full run down of that camera. This Sony comes out well. http://www.cameras.co.uk/details/sony-dsc-n1.cfm Hope this helps. Chris:burn: |
Ixus is a nice camera, but out of the sony's i think the W100 is worth a look. its suited to taking fast moving image shots ideal for bike racing. The results are pretty good for a small lens |
I just bought a new Sony, can't remember the exact model something like T1but it has a 3" screen at the back and 10 megapixel whatever and the three x zoom with Zeiss lense, after charging it worked right away and its easy to set up on the PC & TV also does a natty slide show. |
Thanks, that sounds good could you check the model for me please ! |
mine is a Cyber-shot 10.1 mega pixels, model DSC-N2, I bought it about three weeks ago at Heathrow and with the 2GB card cost £300 plus, cant check exactly how much until I am back at work. It has the 3.0" touch screen and is dead easy to use. I dont know if you would say it takes instant photos but its much quicker than my old Olympus, which is 1.3 megapixels and cost about £500 six years ago. |
On the gadget show they did a test of 3 or 4 high end compact digital camera's. Optical zoom, colour quality, speed, ease of use etc etc The latest fuji came out on top. http://gadgetshow.five.tv/jsp/5gsmain.jsp?lnk=501&featureid=287&description=Comp act%20Cameras |
