Cast Iron Disks (wintercare)

My Garage has been leaking a bit recently, as if idont have enough projects.

so its a bit damp in there, not ideal for a duke i know, but the bike is fine, however i noticed on my spare track disks (Cast Iron floaters) are showing a bit of orange, rust!!!, dusted them of with a bit of wire wool and there fine but what can i put on them to protect them in the damp atmosphere,

perhaps spray them with wd40 ?? but what could i use to clean that off again when i want to use them, I find that Wd40 evaporates after a while any how.

what do you use???

any ideas please

Put them in your airing cupboard!

You can use a light oil, like WD-40, but you'll have to throroughly degrease them before use. Or, you could some extra larger freezer bags from Tesco, take the discs inside to make they are completely dry, put them inside the bag, suck all the air out, and seal them. Works a treat!

yeah id thought i might have to bring them indoors, but they are fitted to my mag wheels and i did not really want to take them off, bit lazy really.

thanks for the ideas

If the discs are attached to the wheels, then Tesco is out, I guess, although there are other sources where you get good plastics bags and vacuum pack the wheels with your hoover. Works great, I had my whole bike stored this way last winter.
