Help needed on Belly Pan installation

I’ve got these 3 made up brackets for a second-hand belly pan unfortunally I don`t know how they go on to secure the bellypan to the bike- as its been in the draw for a few months. If anyone has secured theirs to the bike using similar brackets could they tell me which goes were please, or better yet if they have pics of their setup. Thanks

I don\'t even bother to fit the bellypan to the bike........

.........it is just mounted to the two side panels using DZUS and that's it.

I did try once to fit the bellypan to the bike, but it was then a nightmare getting the panels to fit.

So I now fit both sides to the bellypan before fitting to the bike, then feed it under the bike (with cloths on the floor) and fix it that way.

Unless the bellypan is really heavy, I can't see a problem doing it this way.

unless ...

... you've got a 998 where there is one bracket (or part of the belly pan as a bracket) which connects to the left hand side threaded hole at the back/bottom of the engine.

Problem is that there is V little clearance between the exhaust downpipe and the bellypan so it becomes hot in that area, and I have a fully enclosed bellypan so weight will be a problem in the rain. Anyone know how is the 998 bellypan secured?

Rattler 15-Feb-2004 22:39

Mine is the 998 bellypan.....

...if the clearance is tight, can you use some heat - resistant tape inside the bellypan?

DB,

First things first, is it a race bellypan or do you need side stand provision?

I can help out with both but let's narrow it down first! ;)

Cheers,

Neil.

Its a race one using road fairings cause I need a sidestand( its the one in the pic on the left).

Rattler
Don`t know why, but thought the 998 belly pan was properly secured, and not just a cosmetic thing. It already got installation tape and is already held on my bike via 4 Dzus, but it a lot of hassle getting the fairing off. Securing it would make it easlier and less likely to drop off:lol:

OK mate,

I know what you're trying to do now. I'll dig out the appropriate brackets and take some pics of them. You're going to have to drill yours in the right place and then bend them into the right shape. When you see the pics all will become clear! I'll try and get it done tonight, if not it'll be tomorrow morning.

You're right about one thing though, it's a lot easier to fit it all together if the bellypan is attached to the bike.

Bear with me!

Neil.

Really appreciate all your help, and all the time in taking those pics and words.
Thanks
