Best chain lube via MCN this week

23 products tested this week, both Wax and oil based general lube.

Turns out they recommend using general lube as opposed to wax (which I thought was better if sprayed on the inside of the chain so that it gets 'flung' outwards).

Anyway - the winner was something called 'Wurth high performance dry chain lube' £6.98 for 500ml (contact 0870 - 5987841) and after a quick mootch here is some web info:

http://www.wurth.co.uk/start.html

(select - 'catalogue' then 'motorcycles' and 'bikeline' from the two boxes near the category).

Best 'budget buy' was Putoline DX11 Synth racing chain lube but, the difference in price between these two is only 63p so I'm not quite sure how they work that out!!!

Gotta admit I'm struggling to find dealers for both...the only one I've found so far is John's of Romford !!!

Happy Lubeing -

They have an online store but the dry lube isn't on there yet.

after years of faffing about with side-stand only bikes and sticky, expensive spray on stuff, i've been using this gadget:

http://www.loobman.com

with chainsaw bar oil as the lubricant

works just fine on my 900SS

Gotta support the MCN findings that the wax based lubes are crap. I have been using the Castrol wax lube and even with lubing thoroughly after each ride the chains are corroding while parked in the shed over winter. They are good in that they don't make any where the mess of a traditional lube, but at what cost to your chain and spockets?

your righit. oil is oil. there selling point is, saving the mess.the wax ones are crap. :flame:

I have been using the Wurth one for a while now and can confirm its the best one to date

Bolds - what's the fling like?

From a previous test, ISTR all the wax's getting a mediocre rating for friction, but nonetheless was going to try one because of the lack of fling. Not so sure now. Bit fed up with the fling from Motorex.
