Sticking 916 throttle Ah so the saga continues, just when i thought all was perfect on the 916, now the damn throttle is sticking. Noticed it a couple of weeks ago and put it down to the self adjusting tickover, after a 80 mile ride (yeah i know its duke and they are not meant for round the world trips) i noticed the tickover wouldnt settle until revved hard. if cruising at about 4k the revs stick at 4k untill blipped hard. Bit damn dangerous that. Well off to inspect the cable but is there anything else to look out / check for while its in bits again ? |
Cable/throttle assembly seems the likely one, also check the mechanism on the belmouths, see if that is moving freely, there's plenty of adjustment on there, no idea what does what, but check it's all tight, and hasn't worked loose, causing more fuelling etc. It could be the ECU/Electrical, but I would guess it's more the cable, it hasn't been down the road etc, has it? |
There was a recall on this that may not have been done yet: February 4, 1998 Model: Ducati 916 Years: 1994-1995 Number Involved: 1,316 NHTSA Recall No.: 97V221 Description of Defect: The throttle control linkage pin was not lubricated properly. Consequence of Defect: The engine throttle can bind and not return to proper idle. Corrective Action: Dealers will lubricate the throttle control linkage pin using grease (The recall was for the pin going into the rear throttle lever.) |
hi, i had a simalar problem on my 748s,turn out to be dirt in my potentheomiter [sorry about the spelling ive never had to write or type it before]garage cleaned it up and its been fine for last 10,000miles,hope that helps. |
isnt that just Ducati cruise control?? |
Well its in for a major service soon so will get billy to sort it. Funny thing is when cold its fine, just after a good dogging on the motorway. Been good to get out for some low speed fun on the little TZR250R anyway, love the 916's grunt but love the way this little slow 250 handles and stops. Cheers all |
