Painted Mirrors I want to paint my standard matt black mirrors. Are these standard mirrors the same as those that come painted, ie - do I need to flatten them down? Planning to spray them yellow, any chance of getting the paint code? Many thanks. |
Just had mine sprayed white on the inside, (rider facing), and red on the front with a gold pinstripe a couple of mm inside the red. The mirror comes out if you poke a screwdriver into the hole underneath. Cost £70, but looks good. No specific requirements...just don't spray yellow! Andy:sing::sing: |
Should be getting mine back soon. Insurance job but Ducati only supply coloured mirrirs now so my originally black but scrap mirrirs are being replaced with "yellow to match the bike" mirrors. Tasty! |
Guy`s Don`t you realise that if you get your mirrors supplied or even resprayed in yellow primer you will still have to find someone to apply the red top coat!:lol::roll::lol: |
arrrrrrrgggghhhhhh that joke was moderately funny the 100th time round :yawn: :frog: |
Ducati use PPG paints. Contact them in the UK on 01753 611500. They will be able to give you all the relevant Ducati paint codes and where to source the paint locally. Neil. |
I may be incorrect in the following but I had always thought that you cannot get the red mirrors or red paint for black mirrors anymore. The reason I was given was something to do with everything being in front of you when riding the red bike. This is also why yellow mirrors come with caravan towing type magnifying lenses incase you are ever out riding with red machines. Like I say this could be rubbish but it does sound feasible. :devil: |
Nice one steve :sing::sing::sing: |
If you go to some dealers they do an exchange scheme,well Italia in Lincoln does, give them your black ones, £36 ( I think ) & they will give you a lovely set of YELLOW mirrors or for the commoners among us red :P mirrors. be carful of shades of yellow or red as there is more than one. Typical of the Italians, its what ever they painted last is what you will get, ie my 748 is Bimoto yellow:o Chris. :roll: |
I to would like to paint my mirrors, red of course.... how do you remove them from the bodywork? The Haines manual says unscrew the retaining bolt. On my model there are no bolts just two spigots (if this is the correct term) which sit into clips. Is it just a case of being brutal and pulling them off? |
