compression?? quick techy Q, is there any reason to be worried if compression is higher than standard, eg Haynes says 150-170 lb but is 190 per cyl? Also, will this eefect reliability or make it more pwerful? Cheers PAul |
Are you using a calibrated gauge or could it just have a rather large tolerance. Also engine/oil temp can have a effect on the reading as would tuning work. |
not absolutley sure of the level but spoke with garage Friday and they said it was a 'great engine' as the compression test was 'over 190'. This is on an sps, tested during the service/prep stage before I collect. There is a slight flat spot at 4K which they are trying to resolve. Could this be linked and do you reckon this could have been modified? |
Oops wrong button ! [Edited on 7-3-2004 by Totto] |
Ideally need more info on the engine, but a dyno run would give a idea of how it compares to a standard SPS, if its a good bit better then suspect some tuning work. Either way if it does have a raised compression try to run higher octane fuel like Super Unleaded. Kev |
cheers Kev, putting it on the dyno on 27th, we'll see! No possible reliability issues then? Paul |
