Ventura laggage ?

Just bought a Ventura laggage rack/bag , for the sumer to (hopefuuly ) do a bit of touring ,
Is there anything to watch out for whilst fitting/using or is it as good as it claims ??

Thanks :D:roll:

Supposed to be the dogs, mate of mine did a Nick Sander's Round the World trip with his, lashed spare tyres to it an all sorts. He can't praise it enough. Needless to say, I have a set for the 888 Summer hols to France.

Only downside is lack of waterproofing. I was goint to spray mine with some jollop and bag all the stuff inside.

Regards,

Rob

Got a set myself a few years ago having been peeved with carrying rucksacks, and I should have got one sooner - brilliant piece of kit.

Just watch the paint on the seat unit if you have the bag facing inwards - put some tape on the seat unit to stop it marking and rubbing the paint off.

Works a treat and doesn't really affect handling if bag is placed over rear seat.

Only downside is when bag is removed at night your bike will look like a scooter from Quadraphenia if you leave the top bracket in place.

Pretty easy to fit.

Trev
Only problem I had was clearance of the near side pipework for the 50mm cans when fitting but a minute with the grinder and a black touch up stick sorted that.

I had mine rear facing when we came over to yours and only problem was keeping the front wheel down.

Excellent piece of kit and it did not leak even when I went to Hollland in the P******g rain for a week, best luggage I have tried on the Duke as with the proper use of Duct tape, as mentioned by Anthonye, you dont get no scratches.

Also check the clearance between the bottom of the seat unit and L brackets you need to fit, might be worth extra tape here too????

See you when you get over here ;)

I you have problems with the L-brackets (the side bits) touching either the seat unit or exhausts, then you need to use the spacers provided to move these further out.

The kit comes with an assortedment of different thickness washers so you should be able to get it perfect.

The distance between the mounting points on the brackets can also be adjusted in the same way.

Mine fits fine with 50mm Termigs and a genuine Ducati single seat.

Only 45's Trev, you dont say ;)

Ant
It was the front bracket that touched the near side pipe and to space it round the pipe would have needed an inch spacer:o

Works great now I have the standard pipes and cans back on her, sounds S}!$£ though :(

Hmmm ... that doesn't sound right! Are you sure your pipes were fitted correctly? It may just be they weren't seated right and in swapping them over they now fit correctly... but then I'm sure you've tried that.

Once or twice, once or twice ;)

All said the thing is superb and well worth the hassles, if any, when fitting.
