Re-covering seat pad on \'99 748S Biposto I'm thinking about re-covering the rider's seat pad on my 748S Biposto with the DSC track day in mind. Not sure what would best suede, alcantara etc. Would also consider buying a seat pad off broken bike & getting that covered so I can retain the original, which is OKish but having done 17K+miles has gone shiny & a bit too slippery for my liking. Anyone got any thoughts & knows where I can get this done? I've had an offer of a second hand seat pad @£40 + costs to cover. Any help would be appreciated. Regards & thanks in advance John C |
Don`t be tight Jonny, just get a new bike! ps, you can`t move around on suede, its not slippery enough! |
rcgbob44 hmmmmmm new bike!! Well it's funny you should say that. Picked my 748 up from JHP after service and looked @ current stock there. 999R Fila Reps @£2,000 under list. One belonged to the guy with the £3M collection of race bikes as featured in MCN. Apparently he's had a big off @ a track day & his wife gave him the red card for riding on the road, hence his road 999R for sale. Alternatively 749R. Choices, choices!!! Rgds John C |
I tried suede - too hard to move around on. Then I recovered my Corbin in deerskin. Very comfortable indeed. |
deerskin ..???? some days i worry about you mate ... and how exactly did you discover deerkin felt good against the buttocks ..?? second thoughts .. i dont want to know ... Hope you are well mate ... |

Its funny you should say that about suede seats. I have just had a suede seat cover for my bike. ( I dunno why, just wanted one!) I must say that it is the best seat i have had in all the bikes that i have owned. It seems to hold me steady when i need it and it helps me slide when i need to slide. I think it is brilliant. Not a bit like all the jap seat covers that ive had on my old bikes. I always ended up getting caught with my leathers stinking to the seat cover. Now, i just move where i want to.:D |
Had mine covered with alcantara, just like suede but told it was harder wearing, love it looks much better than normal. Dont find any probs moving round on the seat and it only cost me £20 to get covered at the local trimers.:sing: Hope this helps Matt |
Deerskin Interesting option Shazaam. A mate of mine tried deerskin once. His wife took one look at the seat and said "It looks like reindeer", so he took the seat straight off again so it wouldn't get wet!!!:lol::lol: |
