steering head adjustment
 
hi technical bods
can someone please run over how to adjust the steering head bearings, got an MOT next week and when sit on bike and push forks down there is a clicking noise, maybe its not the head bearings and its something to do with the forks, has anybody else had this problem

uhm...I'm not really a techinical bod...but what you may be describing is noise from the forks (valves etc)

I think the best way to test the steering head bearings is to support the front of the bike off the ground somehow and then pull on the front forks/wheel in the direction of the machine. Any movement/knackered bearings will be obvious and heard!?!?

Sounds more like the pads moving in the calipers or even the disks moving on the bobbins.

Like the man said, get the front of the bike in the air and give he forks a good pull around and you soon find what it is.

My 998 has a clicking/clonking noise from the forks & has done from not long after new !
