996 Red Bull Rep Hi All, I wonder if any of you guys can help me out? I purchased No 16 of a series of 20 last October. The bike is great, goes like a train and has MUCH more grunt than my 748SPS had, it also has lots of trick bits etc. In addition it has a full Silmoto large bore exhaust system. My friend also has a 996 - it is standard - and his seems much easier to fire up. It also appears to have a much smoother tick over. Don't get me wrong I love the bike but there do appear to be some marked differences in the way they start and run. His bike has some 4,500 miles on the clock, mine had 1,700 when I purchased the bike - it now has 2,000. Did any of these 20 bikes have any internal work done? Any information would be much appreciated Cheers SPS |
You need to speak to Desmondo (Jamie) as he has #20 of 20. Drop him a U2U as he might not read this section... |
SPS, as far as I know there was no internal work done on the engine. The only thing that should affect it performance wise was the 54mm Sil Moto exhaust system. I bought mine from new and it's the only Duke I've owned so I have nothing to compare the way it runs against. Having said that, I've never really had any problems with it starting or having a lumpy tickover. I mean, it is lumpy but I thought they were all like that :D As for the bikes, there were indeed 20 made, available with either the biposto seat or single seat unit. I also believe one of the bikes was a 748. Should have 5 spoke's (3 spoke were the standard at the time), exhaust, polished top yoke and stand, eer, ummm, paintjob and certificate of authenticity signed by Team Manager and current riders of Reynolds and Emmett. |
I even got Reynolds to sign my tank :D ![]() |
Yes mate. I know it's hard to believe but it's true :D I put back on my Redbull bodywork and tank and she looks like a slut in a really nice dress  |
