shiny bits in oil

I realised that leaving 5000 odd mile old oil in the laid up ST2 for approx a year already wasn't a good idea so I drained it. Out with it came 15 odd shiny non magnetic pieces of anything up to 2mm across (drain plug was completely clean).
Is there something I should worry about ?

Not magnetic would mean thats its probably aluminium. The crankcases are aluminium i think and also the pistons. I cant think what could cause the swarf though unless its manufacturing debris or a bearing somewhere has seized and it turning in the case.
The ST2 engines are pretty bomb proof compared to the four valve motors so if its quiet when its running i dont think i would worry about it.

I suppose they could also be pieces of white metal or phosphor bronze bearing shells?

Anyone got any more ideas?

If it were a 4V motor, this'd be a good clue as to the rockers were flaking.
Not a known problem in 2V's though.
The "shiny" bit confuses things a little to as ally would tend to be dull.
I'd have the cams pulled and check the rockers...........
