This is an old classic

the following is (supposedly) the transcript of an actual radio conversation in Oct 95 between a US navy ship of the coast of England, and the British authorities.

The transcript was released by the MoD on 10/10/95

Brits. Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

Yanks. Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision.

Brits. Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

Yanks. This is the captain of US navy ship. i say again divert YOUR course.

Brits. Negative. I say again you will have to divert your course.

Yanks. THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN. THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY 3 DESTROYERS, 3 CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH. THATS 15 DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

It's also been used in Stephen Covey's book "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" albeit in a slightly different vein.

i heard that recently during the iraq "conflict" a british chopper came under ground fire from some yanks, the british officer in the copter told the pilot to land and went over to the yanks and asked who was doing the shooting ? "me sir" replied one of the GI`s "i thought you were the enemy" "so the enemy are flying about in sea king helicopters now are they ? " replied the officer, and knocke dout the GI with a well aimed "glasgow kiss" ...

...so the 'fact' that water flows one way in the Northern hemesphere and the other in the South is BS...thats what it says there!

I have a video on my home pc that someone made of an event like that, it's properly done on an HMS ship and all.

And the water goes down the plug hole clockwise down here.
