Servicing waiting list went to book my bike in for it's 12000/annual service and they can't book me in until the first week of june :o now i would really like to get it serviced by the guy who's serviced it since i bought it but i don't really fancy waiting 5 weeks to have it done. so do i lock it in the garage for 5 weeks or take it to someone else ????? as it's been more than 12 months since the 6000ml service and it's done more than the 12000mls i don't really want to put too many more miles on |
That's a difficult call Nigel because the 12K service is an important one (I think that they'll change the belts and you DON'T want one of those to break.) It's worth looking around or alternatively asking your dealer whether an oil and filter change done by you (very simple) would suffice for a few more miles. Also, don't forget the warranty situation if this applies. |
This is a big problem at this time of year, booking ahead is essential to get round the big wait problem. You could try some other dealers or maybe a specialist but it's a dificult call if you want to stick with a place where you are happy. I don't practice what I preach but sometimes dealers will do deals on services in low season as it were. It doesn't matter too much if you go a few miles over, it's a matter of whether or not you think there are risks attached. If you are about to run out of warranty and want a service before the deadline then you have little alternative to 1. offer huge amounts of cash to jump the queue. 2. Lay on the dealers floor holding your breath/screaming/crying until they book yer bike in sooner, etc, etc Hope this helps!! Ray. |
A tricky one.... .....either line yourself up for a last minute cancellation - be ready to get the bike there quickly. Or at least book it in, I think you'll be covered if it goes outside of the warrantee mileage if its booked in for its service and you can't get it there because of a long waiting list. I'm not sure how much room there is to go over the mileage / age - maybe 10%? without getting into discussions around booking times. The other option is of course to book it up earlier next time!!!:lol:;););) Tim:frog: |
