Does anyone have a front stand I could borrow? I have one but it lifts from the forks, which is no good cos I want to fit my ohlins this weekend! So does anyone have one that lifts from the yoke? Pretty please?:D Also any tips for changing the forks over? Thanks! |
The yokes don't have a hole in to locate the usual stands.... If it were me, get your bike in the garage, get your front wheel up on the original stand, then tie some tie downs etc to each clip on then to a beam or such like in the garage, remove the stand, make sure it supports the weight, put back on stand... remove front wheel, calipers, mudguard, loosen yoke bolts a tad, then remove front stand Drop fork legs, install new ones, and reverse the process... |
or just get Weeksy the big scouse lad round to hold it up in the air for you .... dont turn yer back on him tho as he's likely to toss it in the back of his van and sod off .... |
How do I remove the steering stem from the top and bottom yoke? The bottom one has to be junked cos it wont fit the ohlins! |
There should be a special clamp come with the Ohlins. You use this to clamp the stem in the vice and remove the old bottom yoke. More brute force and ignorance than finesse I seem to recall. |
If you don't use the special clamp you run the risk of ovaling the stem. You can alway jack the bike up by removing bottom header . Jon [Edited on 10-6-2003 by Jon] |
