venture film protector After suffering from heavy stone chip damage to both my 998R and 996R, i've taken preventative measures by fitting a venture protective film kit to 999R. just got it fitted in the hope that i might save some of the carbon paintwork from stone chipping:mad: Anyone been using these? is there anything else out there that does a similiar job? i can hardly see it now its fitted, just wondering if they are any good. Will post how i get on with mine. It covers most of the leading edges of the fairings!:frog: [Edited on 10-5-2004 by chillo] |
How much was the kit and what was it like to fit ? If you give positive feedback may well do mine . Thanks. |
You can by a sheet of the stuff from Pro Twins (expensive as I remember) and cut it into any shape you want. U need to heat it first with a hair dryer before you apply it as at normal (say 10C and less temperature) it is not the easiest of stuff to apply and heating it makes life a lot easier. It also makes it less likely to trap air bubbles when you apply it to the surface, which look unsightly. It is not entirely invisible and after a while dirt build up on the edges of the sticker will eventually show up the edges of the piece applied (meths can clean most of this off) but if applied to say the leading edges of the fairings and the oil cooler panel as well as the front mudguard, you can prevent a remarkable amount of damage. Have covered less than 600 miles on my 999S and already picked up two chips on the fairing, so my money is on another application of the stuff to my new bike. Had it on my 998S and it really does work well. I would leave the nose cone well alone as it looks really horrible if applied there. If you must fit one of the white stone chip adhesive panels you can buy form the likes of tec moto, they do the job and do not look too unsightly. |
