Which Class
 

Hi,

I used to hold a National licence but haven't raced since 1991. As the licence rules have changed a bit since then will I have to start off as a novice again?

If not, will I be eligible for class A only?

Also, as I haven't yet joined the DSC or applied to enter the series, and in view of the rule book clause:
"Discretion may be shown by the committee towards entrants who do not meet all of these criteria, but who are entering in the spirit of the series. This is to include those applying to join the series after the 1st of January 2009; such applications to be reviewed and ratified by the Race Committee at the earliest opportunity.",
what is the probability that I will be able to race in the DD in 2009?

Class A for you I think, don't think you will have a problem getting in after all we have had ex BSB partake in the past;)

From an ACU (licence) point of view:

Chances are you will have to come back as a intermediate Novice rider or maybe a Novice rider if you don't hold a full road bike license. A call to the ACU in Rugby sould sort that one out, and if they say you would be coming back as a novice you will probably have to sit the ACU course to obtain a licence which I think is £60 for the course.

I haven't checked the latest rules but a while back Novice licence holders were restricted to bikes no bigger than 600cc which in theory would rule out class A. But as either a Novice or intermediate Novice then you should be eligeable for Class B but you would need to check with the race committee by sending a email to desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com

As its still very early in the year there are probably still a few grid spaces left in each class, making it still worth applying to enter the series

We had novice riders in class A last year!!

I dont think there is a reastriction on novice for cc, as when I looked I could race the blade if I wanted....til Nick convinced the missus I woudlnt come back!! :rolleyes:

Just checked and the rule have been expanded over the last few years since I last looked

18Yrs and over Novice

4-strokes
600cc 4 cylinder
675cc tripple
750cc Twin

16yrs Novices

4-strokes
up to 650cc twins production based
up to 400cc four cylinders production based

But you shouldn't be a Novice Licence holder as you should have held an intermediate Novice Licence due to having a Full Road Bike licence

and more rules changed for 2009 for ages of what juniors can ride after the acu meeting today.
