Sorry you can't make it Lily, I was hoping there would have been a few more days notice. It was only last Friday that I made a call to John Hacket and said I had a favour to ask, then went up on Saturday morning and sat down with him to discuss it, before going on to the New Era meeting. I wanted to try and get last seasons trophies awarded before the new season started and with JHP giving one of the awards, along with the back drop of some terrific bikes as well as its central location, it just made sense to ask John if we could use his place. Trying to get Tony Rutter along was John's idea and it will be great if he is there, not only was he a 7 times TT winner but also 4 times world champion. In 1981 he began his World F2 Ducati Era racing a factory 600 which I think makes him a great choice for awarding the trophies to riders also racing Ducati 600s |
i think it's a fantastic idea and i hope to be there :) |
Well done Kev' I was in there today.....I was just passing honest ;) A great choice of venue, Ducati's wall to wall :D and a racing pedigree second to none. I just hope that the staff don't hold me to the offer I made at dinner time today other wise John H' will not be a happy bunny.... I told 'em all to tell Mr. Hackett I'd bought his Supermono.... ....God that's a beautiful bike.....   |
And for those that are a bit younger than me and maybe not taken much interest in the TT, Here's his TT history. http://www.iomtt.com/TT-Database/com...=2600&filter=R you can see from the pics the bike Griff raced in DD was based on |
Well done Kev :) I noticed that there was no "Life Time Achievment Award", maybe next year ;) you have my vote:) Chris:burn: |
.....And here's another one of Tony Rutter on the Ducati lap at the TT 2008 ![]() Formula 2 Ducati Pantah |
Looks like the same bike that he rode at Castle Combe in 2007 when we were there racing in DD |
It's a great idea and a great location, just a shame we cannot attend. Hope everyone else can make it and make it special for those that have won prizes |
