Advice on 748 prior to purchase Hi, having looked at a few 748's and 916's I have happened upon a local bike, seems to be well ridden but looked after mechanically, cosmetically it is let down by poor paintwork and general corrosion. It needs a damn good wash :-/ My concern is that on the log book it reads 748B, now forgive my ignorance but shouldn't it read E or Bip (is this a cutback on ink?) HPI reports no problems and a clean bill of health. Should I be worried? What should I be looking for on an 02 model to distinguish/identify it? Many thanks in advance. PS: anyone got a set of pipes and an eprom gathering dust in the garage? ;-) |
I wouldn't worry about the logbook to much, its amazing what can be entered on them when it comes to thing lie stateing the model type and then there is always the chance of a typo |
My 996r was marked up as a monster. What is the mileage and service history. \who has serviced the bike. |
As has been mentioned, I wouldn't worry about the 'model' information on the V5. It's quite common for this to be wrong and can be updated, with a bit of work and a few letters to the DVLA. Only be concerned if you're looking at something like a SPS/R model and things don't stack up... (e.g. someone trying to sell a 'R' that isn't an 'R'). You'll know the score with servicing and belt changes. Lack of service history can be taken care of, just as long as you can either speak with the previous owner (verify where, when servicing work was done) or there's a wedge of receipts... |
No you can get 748B (mine was a B) exactly the same as E, confirmed it with Richie at Louigi moto and he OK'd it!! Its the non adjustable headstock |
