Brake lines ?? Looking to change the front brake lines soon. Running standard discs and calipers fitted with HH pads, with brembo radial master. What are the pros and cons of running a two line setup? If any. Not a lover of the original hose configuration. Want something else. What are the preffered options of you guys out there that tinker? have you tried a different setup that you disliked , and why? Doogalman |
Whats with the necessity for twin lines for racing? are you not allowed any mechanical join between cylinder and caliper? Doogalman |
You don't actually need two seperate lines for racing, you just aren't allowed to have your lines supported by the front mudguard as in standard Ducati fitment. Two seperate lines is the easier option although all the Ducati factory race bikes use two lines from the calipers which then "T" into one line that goes to the master cylinder. The lines run from the calipers around the front of the fork legs and the "T" is located on the front of the bottom yoke. From there, it's a single line up to the master cylinder. There are a lot of myths about two line setups, the most popular being that if one line is to fracture/leak/break etc then you will still have pressure going to the other caliper. Utter nonsense! Any leak etc in the system will result in pressure loss at both calipers equally. The only way to keep both lines fully independant of each other is to use a dual bore master cylinder, one bore for each line/caliper. AP Racing make just such a master cylinder if you wanted to go down that road. |
If you're running a brake switch/banjo with the Brembo Radial I'd suggest you stick with the same setup you have now. The double banjos, required for the twin line setup are rare as hens teeth with the switch built in. |
