RevLight - Fitting I've now acquired a pile of bits for the mono conversion, and also a datatool revlight, so a busy saturday is planned fitting it all together. But.... Which wires the sense wire on the 748's tacho? I've done a search and see a few people have already fitted these, so someone should be able to tell me which wire to cut, as no one seems to have posted this info?? I've also seen Antoyne's tip about the push switch, which I'd already thought of and that confirmed it's a good idea. :eureka: |
Don't cut any wires... Check behind the tacho and there's a connector with 3 wires to it - these are +ive (12v) -ive (Earth) and the pulse for the Tacho. You only have 4 wires on a RevLight - 12v, Earth, Pulse and the Program wire which you touch to Earth to program it. A tip is to connect this to earth via a push-switch so you can program the RevLight much easier and also change it's modes on the go. This is what I did: http://horrible.demon.co.uk/fairing/.../040506_02.jpg The push button is above the light cluster. |
Cheers, I'll take a look at the connector and see if I can make an intermediate cable with a set of connectors. I'vergot to take a trip to get a ptm transient switch for the blue wire anyway. I guess the 3 wires are appropriately coloured (+ red, - black, pulse other ) |
Yes, I think the connector has red, black and white for the pulse. I tried finding a suitable connector myself to make an intermediate cable, but didn't have any luck, so I ended up taking the connectors out of the plug and piggy-back soldering the (very thin) datatool wires onto them before refitting back into the connector. |
looking at the plug at the moment, and it's a challenge to get the pins out.. |
Job done, and the answer to my question is the sense wires the grey/green one in the middle of the plug. Looks white until you clean the cr@p off. It's a pig to stick the light in place though, so that's a job for tomorrow along with the switch and heatshrinking the whole thing up.. Must buy industrial strength sticky tape tomorrow, along with a red switch, any suggestions appreciated before I go on a lunchtime shoppping trip.. |
Good luck - I never did get mine to stick in place so I ended up making my own carbon-fibre clock surround to house it. A bit extreme I know, but it worked a treat :D |
